Your hometown is suffering from a terrible drought. Never in all the time that you’ve lived here has it been this bad, and your community is suffering. If nothing changes, this will be the end of this place. Those who live here might survive and disperse to new lands and new communities, but the specific history of this place and people will be lost forever.
Fortunately, there is something to be done. Deep within the nearby forest is rumored to live a River Spirit. Unseen in generations, local lore says it can make the rain return. But what it will cost is for you to discover. Read on to prepare for your journey and find out whether you can bear to make that sacrifice.
The River Spirit is a solo-journaling game funded during Zine Month 2023, edited by Seth Ian, art by Lining Wang, playtested by Ariel Chu.
